I know, I know, you’ve already been asked this before – but what are you reading during this ‘virus’ lockdown? I am genuinely curious.
As I told you all last week, my basic day-to-day life/schedule hasn’t changed that much. I still homeschool as I did before, run my freelance business, and I am now also helping with the advertising, editing, page layout and proofreading for the Australian homeschool magazine Otherways.
To help me cope with all the uncertainty and the sometime-feelings of helplessness caused by COVID-19, I read. Mind you, I read a lot before all of this, but now I am reading a little more and for different reasons. Before the lockdown, I read just for the enjoyment and relaxation I felt from reading, now it’s to help take my mind off things.
I have long TBR (To Be Read) lists on my Google Play Books list, Amazon and Kobo, but to be honest, I prefer a good old paperback book in my hands! For this reason, I am currently re-reading my husband’s Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin. It was either that or the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, but I have read those so many times already I could probably recite large sections of the books by memory! I have only read the GoT series twice
I will turn to my eBooks after GoT, but I find that if I read eBooks too much, I get eye strain. Do electronic devices do this to you too? I’ve tried every setting possible to minimise the side effects, but it still strains my eyes. I am hoping the local library or op-shops (I’ve found many a great book at op-shops) re-open before I need to read too many eBooks in a row.
So, what are you reading at the moment? Do you prefer eBooks or paperbacks?
